HOW IT STARTED?
It feels natural to start by telling you my story and how it has led me to now tell yours.
Growing up I always remember my dad’s great passion for photography. Everywhere he went would start with him picking up his camera bag up.
I remember the boredom of long summer holidays, wandering through the fields and countryside. I must have climbed this one old oak tree a thousand times. Dreaming of building a tree house, looking up at the leaves blowing in the wind for hours, running my fingers over the old formed bark that occasionally peeled back from its slightly dried branches. My eyes were opened to the world and I longed for that to last forever.
To capture that beauty. I realised photography was my calling.
I would sneak into my dad’s office and ask to borrow his camera. With that I would disappear for hours, to return excited, covered in mud, leaves, dog slobber and moss and show what I had captured.
My 18th Birthday came and I was the happiest girl in the world… I received a DSLR camera.
Then my travels began.
I travelled the world, my eyes open. The madness, the colours and best of all, the people.
This was the beginning of my venture into Portrait and Wedding photography. I was inspired by every single person I met, each telling their story and their collective stories.
I simply had to continue to capture this when I got home.
I was so taken by the incredible people and communities that I met, the stories I heard and events I saw. People became friends, stories came alive, everyone was shouting out to my camera… I captured their moments and the wonder of it all.
The start of telling your story begins…
Who Am I?
I’m Emmelina and I create a particularly natural and personal style of documentary wedding and portrait photography.
ABOUT MY STYLE
It is important for me to capture the real smiles, laughter and tears and therefore I tend to stay in the background, help direct where needed and get to know you and your guests from behind the lens.
You can focus on relaxing and I’ll make the timeless and true images.
I’ve been a professional wedding and portrait photographer since 2012, photographing more than 100 weddings and portrait commissions internationally; my style has developed into a distinct form of natural and honest coverage.
I tend to work with available light only and avoid using artificial light, from a flash for instance. This allows me to faithfully photograph the atmosphere of an event and occasion.
It also gives my style a strong and consistent look, wherever the wedding or portrait shoot takes place.
